Community Action Night!

Community Action Night!

Details

Hey you! We are a group of amazingly talented (brushing the shoulders off) and civic-minded volunteers that want you to join us in making Charlotte a better place! We work with city departments and local organizations to create digital platforms that help Charlotte residents better interact with the Queen City. PS- make sure you read everything in this description for directions to our location and what you can expect your first night!

Coding and programming are just a portion of the work we do. Our projects require project managers, designers, storytellers, writers, researchers, marketers, user experience designers, and fundraisers! Regardless of your skill level, we need you here and will give you opportunities to increase and practice any skill you do want to develop!

Are you still on the fence about how you could contribute? Come on now- we got you! We are always looking to engage our community in what they need and how we could build it! Join us for one of our monthly community nights, network with our team, support our message and support Crown Town!

We firmly believe that our government and our community can be better but only by working together. We are rolling up our sleeves and using our combined skills to make that happen. Join us! Check out this video (https://www.ted.com/talks/jennifer_pahlka_coding_a_better_government?utm_source=tedcomshare&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=tedspread)and learn about the story of our origin, and then check out our website (http://www.codeforcharlotte.org/) to get involved!

Entrance and Parking: The entrance to Camp North end is at 1830 Statesville Ave. Once you're inside Camp North End: Follow signs for The Mount! Follow the driveway all the way down to the end. There will be shipping containers on your right, TURN RIGHT and then take your immediate LEFT JUST after the shipping containers. Follow that road around the bend and you'll see the 2nd area with patio furniture and lights. Park anywhere near there and look for the black and yellow building. We're in there! Still not sure? Check out this map: https://wearehygge.com/images/parkingmap-campne.jpg

What To Expect Your First Night: Besides helping yourself to free drinks and pizza, we have a little orientation that tells the story of how we started, what we do and what are we working towards! After the orientation, you can meet some of our members or jump in and work with us! We have a GitHub repository that we'll show you how to access, so if you wanted to dive in make sure to bring a laptop!
