Newark Codes
Looking to get started on an open data project? Do you have an idea, but don't quite know where to start? Do you want to meet people and learn some new skills? It doesn't matter your skill level, skill set, or age; everyone is welcome. Parents, feel free to bring your children! Please know that while we provide project-based learning opportunities we are not a coding school. If you want to learn to code, join us, and we will figure out a way for you to get involved! Newark Codes meets weekly on Wednesday nights at 6pm. Pizza will be provided and attendees asked to bring their own non-alcoholic beverage or bring one for the group to share. All that is needed is your device and your ideas. Schedule: 6:00 PM: Doors open, get food, begin finding projects 6:15 PM: Check In and Intros 7:40 PM: Wrap up; commit and quit Building on the weekly Code and Coffee meetups, Newark Codes is an opportunity to be creative, brush up on technical skills, and meet new people. You can be a community member, a designer, a developer, or anywhere in between. Open Data Delaware began based on the idea that Internet-based technologies can be a source of analyzing and solving community problems. Open Data Delaware now has regular participants who meet to devise creative solutions of pressing community matters in Delaware. Open Data Delaware organizes hackathons, trainings, discussions, and weekly meetups. Inspired by this community and the projects that have resulted, Newark Codes is growing the Open Data Delaware community in Newark. What we're about

We're a group of people interested in exploring how we can interact with data to make positive change for local Delaware communities. We are civic-minded. We are developers. We are designers. We are beginners. We are experts. We are everything in-between. It doesn't matter how much experience you have, all you need is a willingness to learn and a desire to help your community. We'll meet regularly to work on projects and build community together.
