Talk 031 - World AIDS Day

Details

A last minute opportunity to collaborate with Talk 031 for World AIDS Day has come up and because we care deeply about this issue we have decided to host them during our lab time. This will mean the usual lab setting will be a bit disrupted, but it will be a really engaging evening and we are always looking for spaces where eThekwini citizens can connect on central topics like this one.

Following the success of previous #Talk031 event on patriarchy, the event will take the form of an opening talk by an expert. After that, we will share our stories of living in the 031 - the city responsible for 10% of all HIV+ persons in South Africa.

#IAmPositive: Is stigma preventing testing amongst the youth?
#IAmPositive: Will there be a cure for HIV/AIDS in our lifetime?
#IAmPositive: Is race, class, and gender a factor in HIV/AIDS stigma today?

#IAmPositive: A youth discussion on stigma and discrimination at the workplace, in the community and at school in the 031.

PS: This discussion for everyone and anyone can remain anonymous in the crowd. But we are also looking for people who are willing to share their stories in this safe space so please contact us if you would like to take up a 3-minute speaking slot. We are also looking for people working in the HIV/AIDS space to come forward and assist facilitate the event.

Please bring your opinion, your thoughts, your wine and anything else that makes you feel comfortable.

We hope to see you there!
