Doors open at 6:30 pm. Sign-up for those who wish to perform is from 6:30-6:55 pm. You must sign up by 6:55 to perform. Once the show starts we may not be able to accommodate additional performers. Bring music printed out in your key, and Kenneth will accompany you at the piano for your moment at the microphone.
Comedians, poets, writers and musicians are all encouraged to perform! After the event, we will move the party to BanC House for a special 2 for 1 drink offer. The monthly Open Mic Night is hosted by singer/pianist Kenneth Gartman. The Featured Entertainer for April is DR. RICHARD WEIDLICH.
The evening is structured as a traditional open mic night with the Featured Entertainer doing a set in the middle of the evening. Some snacks and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase.
DR. RICHARD WEIDLICH (Featured Entertainer), baritone, is both a performer and teacher. Highlights include Opera: Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Count Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro, Guglielmo in Così fan tutte, Danilo in The Merry Widow, Schaunard in La Bohème, Nerone in Il Coronazione di Poppea, Mercutio in Roméo et Juliette, among others. Orchestral: St. Louis Symphony, Seattle Symphony, Oregon Symphony, Buffalo Philharmonic, Tucson Symphony. Musical Theatre: Harold Hill in The Music Man, Ravenal in Showboat, Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls, Nicky Arnstein in Funny Girl, Max Dettweiler in The Sound of Music, the King in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, Matt in The Fantasticks, KoKo in The Mikado, and others. Dr. Weidlich teaches voice and directs the Opera Ensemble at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury and is Minister of Music at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Stamford, Connecticut.
KENNETH GARTMAN (Host/Pianist) – Kenneth is a New York City based Singer, Pianist, Vocal Coach, Music Director, Director and Producer. As an actor and singer Gartman toured with the Broadway national tour of “The Music Man”, internationally on the Live BBC Broadcast of “Simply Sondheim”, and throughout Ireland in “A New York Songbook: Way Off Broadway”. He released his debut solo album “We Need a Little Christmas” in 2020. As a Music Director his passion is new musical theatre works, concerts and cabarets - Madame Clicquot (PCLO); Inner Voices III: Arlington (Off-Broadway); Madame Clicquot (Studio Cast Recording); The White City, Broadcast and The ToyMaker (Eugene O’Neill National Music Theatre Conference); Numerous readings, cast recordings, demos, cabaret workshops, cabaret shows, benefits, awards presentations and concerts.
