Howdy peeps! We're happy to co-host a Meetup with the Los Angeles Blender 3D Meetup Group. Let's spend the afternoon hanging out and talking productions with open source technologies over food and drinks, then walk over next door to the landmark Nuart Theater to watch this year's amazing Oscar nominated animated short films! Some of the best short films ( live action & animated ), great company, Santa Monica breeze, and beer-- that's my idea of a day well spent. I hope you can make it and meet you there, details below. Short films are the incubators of the directing stars of tomorrow, and show a remarkable variety of inspiration and technique. Landmark Theatres is once again happy to offer audiences a chance to see the new Academy Award nominees in the categories of Best Animated Short Film and Best Live Action Short Film. Thanks to Shorts HD and Magnolia Pictures, audiences will have an opportunity not only to second guess the Academy voters, but to get a leg up in their office pools! Two feature-length programs will be shown—one for the live action nominees and one for the animated nominees. Separate admission is required for each program. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences will announce the nominees on Tuesday, January 22. Details about the contents of each program will be made available on our website in the days that follow. And don’t forget to watch the 91st Academy Awards show when it is broadcast live on Sunday, February 24! The ceremony will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, and will be televised live by the ABC Television Network.
