OpenLate @ OpenDNS - Risk Reduction: Parallel Method for Addressing Cyber Risk
Tonight, Calvin Liu, Co-Founder of Ventura Enterprise Risk Management, will be giving a talk on addressing cyber risk. Abstract Cyber security as it is practiced today is significantly about preventing losses through preventing attacks. However, it is not the only way to address cyber risk. This talk will look at ways by which loss reduction techniques can and should be used to address cyber risk – and illustrated with real world examples for which the cyber losses could have been contained. Bio Calvin is an electrical engineer that started work as a designer on the AMD K6 and K7 processors. He then spent 10 years in the semiconductor industry and was a lead consultant in the formation of the Stingray Division in Motorola Semiconductor. Previous roles include a Solution Architect at Nihon Synopsys KK Consulting, Country Manager for Epic Design Technology in Japan and Senior Manager at Cadence Design Services where he was responsible for all technical interactions with at Taiwan Semiconductor (TSMC), including joint marketing, IP and new technology development. More recently, Calvin co-founded Ventura Enterprise Risk Management where he has been involved in dozens of incident response engagements from SME to enterprise level, and is now working on ReSecure: a startup that addresses SMB cyber risk. -------------------------- OpenLate provides an evening hack lounge with themed tech talks at the OpenDNS office.
