OpenStack and High Availability

OpenStack and High Availability

Details

Our Aug. session will explore OpenStack and High Availability. Thanks to IBM for sponsoring and leading the session!

Overview: As we managed internal and external OpenStack deployments in IBM, we experimented with various architectures and approaches that improved OpenStack’s availability and performance. In this session we will introduce OpenStack, and the technologies we used to optimize our environments.

Using practical examples, we will show how we scaled out OpenStack Services (Nova, Horizon, Keystone, Glance, Cinder, etc.) and some of the challenges we ran into along the way. The discussion will detail our use of the following technologies:

• MySQL Clustering

• Galera (Active/Active)

• Corosync & Pacemaker (Active/Standby)

• HAProxy and KeepAlive

• RabbitMQ Clusters

Our speaker:

Manuel Silveyra is a Senior Cloud Solutions Architect with the Open Technologies and Cloud Performance team in IBM. With a strong background in Linux and Cloud technologies, Manuel has worked extensively with customers and business partners helping them to modernize and improve their IT infrastructures and procedures.

Reminders:

• There will be light dinner courtesy of IBM ~ 6:15pm and we will kick off the sessions ~ 6:45pm.
