OpenStack L.A. July Meetup/OpenStack 7th Birthday Celebration!

Details
The July OpenStack L.A. meetup/OpenStack 7th birthday celebration is on!
We are extremely fortunate to have Mike Perez, Development Coordinator at the OpenStack Foundation (and former organizer of OpenStack L.A.), as our featured presenter this month.
We'll also be celebrating OpenStack's 7th birthday! There will be great food and drinks (possibly even some bubbly!), and more! We've been asked by the OpenStack Foundation to take lots of pics at the event so that they can be shared on the Foundation's Flickr page. So, be sure to bring your best smiles!
The July meetup is being sponsored in-part by the OpenStack Foundation
We hope that you'll be able to join us on the 27th!
Presentation Abstract:
Stay Calm and Use OpenStack Consistently
In 2010, during the first summits for OpenStack, the community took an approach of essentially creating silos among the different projects. This resulted in the inconsistent interfaces we have available today from REST API's and command line interfaces. The community today consists of different working groups that have of interest of fixing these sore spots, and there progress is something to talk about.
Among OpenStack there are individual command line interfaces that exist to serve the purpose of one OpenStack service. If we take setting quotas as an example between the compute and block storage service, they are completely different. The operators of these services are having to look up the usage each time they want to interact with these services, which is just frustrating.
Initiatives such as the OpenStack client takes an approach of using consistent verbs within it's interface it exposes for all OpenStack services, to which users managing and consuming an OpenStack cloud are presented with a more desirable experience.
In addition there are initiatives like the Shade python library that gives misconception to the public as being a valid solution for dealing with inconsistencies in the OpenStack API. However, this is really exposing examples of what is currently wrong in the OpenStack API.
The goal of this talk is to give the audience valid tools to deal with inconsistencies today, and what is the community doing for a long term goal.
Audience
A talk for both operators and developers interested in using OpenStack all through open source solutions available. Perfect for beginners as well to learn about what it is and how to start using it.
