Speaker Bio:

Scott Sneddon is Senior Director, SDN and Virtualization at Juniper Networks where he spends most of his time evangelizing the benefits of Network Virtualization and Software Defined Networking. Previous experience includes Principle Solutions Architect at Nuage Networks, Chief Solutions Architect at Vyatta Inc, an innovator in Network Virtualization; Consulting Engineering positions at Juniper Networks where he contributed to Cloud designs at IBM, AT&T, France Telecom, and Telstra; Consulting Engineering positions at Alcatel-Lucent where he contributed to MPLS network designs at AT&T (uVerse), Telus, and Verizon; and as Director of Architecture at Exodus Communications where he led the global network architecture team. His background is in architecting carrier scale Cloud environments and service provider MPLS networks. He was talking about network virtualization before network virtualization was cool.

Abstract:

Gone are the days where we would argue over private vs public cloud, and whether hybrid cloud was possible. Cloud deployments that combine all of these strategies are becoming the new normal, and most are combining multiple cloud platforms to achieve this. This combination of platforms and footprints creates new networking and security challenges. In this presentation,we’ll talk about these challenges and some solutions to overcome them. We’ll discuss new features and roadmap items in the OpenContrail project specifically for multi-cloud uses cases. And we’ll talk about the recent “reboot” of the OpenContrail community. If all goes as planned, this session will also include a demo of OpenContrail networking between workloads deployed on an OpenStack environment and a bare-metal Kubernetes environment.
