Working with OpenStack verses VMWare

This talk is intended to provide a comprehensive review of the architecture design difference between deploying an OpenStack cloud and deploying a VMWare ESX cluster. For the past years, VMWare has been pretty much the industry leader for virtualization. With that, most of us have built up quite a bit of knowledge on it. Sort of modeled our minds around it. So how do you mentally move from VMWare thinking over to OpenStack thinking? Please join us to review some of the major design considerations when transitioning from VMWare to OpenStack. Hoping to educate some of us old virtualization dogs with some new cloud tricks.

HyperFast OpenStack Storage
During this session we will discuss the current status of OpenStack storage projects and give an overview of the new features in Open vStorage 2.0. Open vStorage is an open-source project with a single focus: offer the fastest Virtual Machine storage for OpenStack. With Open vStorage we have built technology which has the features of high-end SANs (performance, zero-copy snapshots, thin cloning) but is also scale-out and low-cost, like object storage solutions. Open vStorage combines the best of both worlds. With Open vStorage you can seamlessly scale your storage by adding more disks.

CloudFounders (@CloudFounders):
CloudFounders brings together leading experts from the world of cloud, datacenter and IT services. The team includes people instrumental in the development of clouds and datacenters at Level 3, PSInet, and Dedigate part of Terremark/Verizon. The team has also brought successful datacenter technology to the market with Q-Layer`s Private Virtual Datacenter and VirtualBox, both now part of Oracle and Datacenter Technologies PureDisk technology which was acquired by Symantec.

Trove Day by Tesora
Talk is reserved for monthly review of the leading DBaaS providers on the market. This is with the idea it compliments what OpenStack offers many organization. This month we are featuring Tesora, who is the largest contributor to the Trove project within OpenStack. Tesora can not be here in person, so we will review two videos shared with the meetup group from Tesora. Come learn more about Trove and Tesora!
