Details on each topic (scroll down):

  1. OpenStack in the Age of Ansible

Abstract: Everyone (we hope) has heard of how OpenStack is going to revolutionize how the world delivers the next generations of connected platforms.

In this talk we will take a smaller view on OpenStack. We will focus on how an IT Professional who not only uses OpenStack but has to provide demonstrations and workshops around OpenStack has used Ansible and other tools to automate and customize the process, making his life easier in the process.

Bio: Jamie Duncan has been a Red Hatter for 4 years, spending a lot of that time focusing on emerging technologies that enable the clouds. Currently, he is a Cloud Solutions Architect for Red Hat's Public Sector Sales Team.

When not arguing with neutron or kubernetes, Jamie lives outside of Richmond, VA on what will one day be a small farm with his family and a small zoo of dogs, cats, chickens, frogs and woodland realm friends.

  1. Data protection & backups for OpenStack

Abstract: OpenStack DC members will learn why backup and recovery is a challenge for OpenStack and how TrilioVault addresses these challenges. Members will also hear how TrilioVault emerged from Raksha, the first specification for OpenStack Backup-as-a-Service. TrilioVault will be officially unveiled at the OpenStack Summit in Austin in April.

TrilioVault is a subscription-based, tenant driven, agent-less, non-disruptive and incremental backup service for OpenStack. With the solution, users can either selectively or with one-click restore production or clone point-in-time environments for both development and testing. The solution has built-in high availability and scalability, with the option to replicate workloads for disaster recovery.

Bio: Murali Balcha, co-founder and CTO of Trilio Data, is one of the co-authors of the first specification for OpenStack Backup-as-a-Service, called Raksha. For over 15 years Murali has served in key technical and leadership roles, delivering breakthrough technologies to market. Most recently, he served as an Engineering Leader at EMC, where he led the development of numerous storage, virtualization, and cloud computing innovations and established EMC’s leadership in Disaster Recovery, and VMware Integration.

  1. The State of OpenStack Installations

Abstract: Attendees will learn about the current installation options that various platforms have. This will include the pros and cons each option brings and the challenges involved with accurately estimating the time and efforts that a given installation presents. Glenn will cover aspects of planning, implementation and post installation considerations.

Bio: Glenn Baker, Mavenspire engineering consultant, based out Annapolis, MD is a leader charged with the opportunity to train and implement the newest Open source technologies. His cutting edge experiences give him a great wealth of hands-on knowledge that he willingly shares with the community. Prior to joining Mavenspire, he worked as Linux/OpenStack Engineer in the Cloud Orchestration Team at Cigna. The success of the OpenStack pilot at Cigna was a highlighted success story at the Red Hat Summit in Boston.
