Humanitarian Mapping with OpenStreetMap and Missing Maps

We'll be mapping to support the the Missing Maps project, which is a project to map the world's most vulnerable areas -- places where maps are needed, but don't currently exist. Missing Maps uses OpenStreetMap as the main map so we'll also be improving the location information in OpenStreetMap. Missing Maps and OpenStreetMap are used by aid organizations such as the American Red Cross, MSF (Doctors Without Borders), and Concern Worldwide to help in disaster response and community projects.

No experience is necessary! We’ll do a quick tutorial. Please bring your own laptop computer and mouse, and a desire to help people. A computer mouse on your laptop makes it a lot easier to do the mapping.

DIRECTIONS: Meeting room is on the south side of Hamilton Street between Robson and Georgia (110-750 Hamilton Street). Take the concrete steps that are to the right of JJ Bean coffee kiosk on this block. Follow these steps up to 750 Hamilton and dial 110 on the entryphone to enter - we are in the East Studio inside the building. Call/Text me at 778-230-0653 if you need help entering the building. People with mobility issues can use the elevator in the atrium of the CBC Broadcast Centre at 700 Hamilton Street, then go past the Security desk to the breezeway.
