OpenZFS European Conference


Details
We are holding our first OpenZFS Europe Conference from 9am to 6pm on Tuesday, 20th May 2014, in Paris, starting with a keynote from founder Matthew Ahrens, followed by discussions and workshops. We will be providing free beverages and lunch for attendees and there will be an opportunity to socialise afterwards with beer and pizzas.
Schedule (Subject to change)
9:00am – Welcome Breakfast
9:30am – State of the ZFS Union (Matthew Ahrens)
Matt will be doing an introduction to OpenZFS and be providing us with a State of the ZFS Union presentation to show the progress of OpenZFS so far.
10am – Presentations from FreeBSD, Linux, Mac OSX and illumos Communities
We would like representatives of the various communities to provide a small update as to work that the various flavors of OpenZFS have been contributing and any further work planned in the next 6 months for users to get excited about! Please email ryan@erastor.eu for more information.

11am – Commercial Uses of ZFS (Lightening 10 minute talks)
Are you currently using ZFS in a commercial product, would you like to give a brief overview of what you are using ZFS for?
We would love to know how you use it, how it benefits you, and what you are feedback into the community, we would love to hear about it. These are ideally only going to be about 10 minutes long. We want to keep these short and sweet. For a spot, please email ryan@erastor.eu

We are looking for panel members to discuss the overall storage market, trends, big picture and where does OpenZFS fit into that market.

We are looking for developers to lead discussions on using OpenZFS in production environments. A technical deep dive into how you use ZFS, have you found problems, how you solved them etc. If you would be interested in presenting, please email ryan@erastor.eu
4:30pm – The Feedback Loop
With the developer conference being held in SF again towards the end of the year, we would like to see potential new tracks identified for OpenZFS to follow and be worked on till the developer conference. This could be features, bug requests, future improvements. All ideas are welcome and would be noted down for further discussion at the upcoming US Developer Summit in November.
5:00pm – Pizza and Beers
Pizza and Beer’s in the wind down session. The beers are kindly supplied by Alyseo.
