Abstract: LocalSolver is a new kind of optimization solver. Its APIs are richer than traditional MILP APIs, offering nonlinear and set-based mathematical modeling constructs. Under the hood, LocalSolver combines exact and heuristic techniques that make the resolution of many problems faster and more scalable, in particular for routing, scheduling, packing, clustering, and location problems. We will present and explain some LocalSolver models for problems like Traveling Salesman Problem, Vehicle Routing Problem, or Job Shop Scheduling. Then, we will show some benchmarks against traditional MILP solvers for these problems.

About The Speaker: Dr. Frédéric Gardi has over 20 years of experience in Operations Research, Decision Science, Mathematical Optimization, and Software Engineering, ranging from basic research to project management, with a client-centric, software craftsmanship spirit.
He has completed several optimization projects with high impact for major companies: Air Liquide, Bouygues Telecom, Renault, Société Générale, TF1 Publicité. His major areas of application include workforce & job scheduling, car sequencing, vehicle & inventory routing, media & marketing campaign planning, banking & financial engineering. As a sole author, he has to his name a decision support software for retail banking used daily by 10,000 users to automate and optimize €50 billion of mortgages per year. He also initiated and led the team towards developing the new-generation mathematical optimization software LocalSolver. He is an author of about 20 papers in highly selective international journals and conferences and also part of various scientific organizations and committees.
