Title: We’re back in 2019 with three awesome MongoDB talks from Berlin, Dublin and New York

The Oporto MongoDB User Group is back to Porto. Join us for three awesome talks from Norberto Leite, MongoDB Inc., New York, Rita Rodrigues, MongoDB Inc., Dublin and Masashi Beheim, FreightHub, Berlin.

The event is going to take place on Friday, April 12, 2019, 18h30, at UPTEC Asprela I (https://goo.gl/maps/sTm7xcWLtzE2) (Rua Alfredo Allen, n.º 455/461, 4200-135 Porto).

The preliminary agenda for the meetup is the following:

• 18:30-19:00: Welcome and get together.

• 19:00-19:30: Talk #1: "Tips and Tricks for Avoiding Common Query Pitfalls" with Norberto Leite, Lead Engineer at MongoDB Inc. (https://www.linkedin.com/in/norbertoleite). He is going to share with us the common query mistakes as well as tips and tricks to avoiding them. MongoDB provides extremely powerful querying capabilities when used properly, take note of them.

• 19:30-20:00: Talk #2: "Atlas Overview - Building MongoDB in the Cloud" with Rita Rodrigues, Solution Architect at MongoDB Inc. (https://www.linkedin.com/in/ritamartinsrodrigues). She is going to present an MongoDB Atlas demo and how to build MongoDB apps in the cloud.

• 20:00-20:15: Short break for a beer

• 20:15-20:45: Talk #3: "Enabling real-time global shipment planning and tracking at FreightHub with MongoDB" with Masashi Beheim, Head of Engineering at FreightHub (https://www.linkedin.com/in/beheim). He is going to present an overview on MongoDB usage and showcases on how to plan and track FreightHub transports with event sourcing and CQRS.

• 20:45: Closing with free beer and pizza. Thanks to MongoDB and FreightHub!

Talk #1:

Title: Tips and Tricks for Avoiding Common Query Pitfalls

Abstract: Query performance can either be a constant headache or the unsung hero of an application. MongoDB provides extremely powerful querying capabilities when used properly. As a senior technical staff member, I will share common mistakes observed as well as tips and tricks to avoiding them.

Short Bio: Norberto Leite, I'm from Porto, and I live in NYC..
I've been at MongoDB for the last 7 years.

Title: Atlas Overview - Building MongoDB in the Cloud

Abstract: Building MongoDB in the Cloud (slides + Atlas Demo+ ..).

Short Bio: Rita Rodrigues, Solution Architect in Dublin, a very travelled Portuguese Heavy Metal lover, with a big passion for IT.

Talk #3:

Title: Enabling real-time global shipment planning and tracking at FreightHub with MongoDB

Abstract: FreightHub is a digital freight forwarder who is revolutionizing logistics by making it easier, faster, and more cost-efficient to move goods from point A to point B – via container ships, planes, trucks, and trains. FreightHub brought instant quotation to the global freight industry and offers customers real-time tracking of goods throughout the world.
FreightHub is relying on MongoDB for over three years now in production. This talk gives you an overview about its usage and showcases how we plan and track our transports with event sourcing and CQRS.

Short Bio: Masa (Masashi Beheim) is working as Head of Engineering at FreightHub.
He studied Computer Science at the Technical University of Munich and worked as an iOS Engineer before joining FreightHub as the 3rd Engineer in 2016.
