Moderate 10 mi R/T, 1,200ft total gain hike descending into a lush forest and meadow with superb views of the Santa Ana Mountains.
We will start from the Upper trailhead next to the Blue Jay Campground, and descend along the hillside to a shaded meadow where we break for lunch, then continue up a steep ravine to a ridgeline with great views.
Some steep/slippery sections. Hiking Poles Recommended. Hiking Boots or High Traction Trail Shoes required.
No beginners please.

Meet at 11:00am at the Upper San Juan Trail Parking area, adjacent to the Blue Jay Campground, Long Canyon Road, Lake Elsinore, 92530.
It is NOT the 'San Juan Trailhead" indicated on the map below - that is inside the Blue Jay campground. This is the lot just up the road, outside from Blue Jay Campground.
If lot is full, park across the road or outside the campground.
Return to the trailhead about 4:00pm
