Have Fun & Safe for all Ages!

This group is sponsored by a new, local, family run business, Family Game Night. We opened in Orlando recently (March, 2017) and hoping to meet as many of you in person and play some games! Our store has a huge demo library and play space safe for all ages. Please come on down and check us out when you are in the area.

Interested in setting up events for this meetup group?

Please post your ideas and details for that event in the group. If you need a central point for meeting, Family Game Night is more than happy to host your event and is a great place to meet and make new friends from this group.

Family Game Night hosts a variety of events in store on a weekly basis. Please visit our website for more details or stop in the store. Comments, suggestions and questions are always welcome.

Magic the Gathering: Friday Night Magic

Family Game Night

Friday Night Magic Come on down and play Magic the Gathering at Family Game Night! New players are encouraged to stop in and let us teach you how to play. We'll even give you a free starter deck just for learning how to play! FNM Standard or Modern - 6pm FNM Draft $13 - 6pm What is Magic the Gathering and Trading Card Games? In Magic: The Gathering, you are counted among the elite spellcasters of the Multiverse—the Planeswalkers. Your deck of cards represents your weapons, containing the spells you know and the creatures you can summon to fight for you. Games are played by two or more players, each of whom has a customized deck of Magic cards. Each player starts at 20 life. When you reduce your opponent to 0 life by attacking with creatures and playing spells, you win! Trading card games (TCGs) like Magic: The Gathering combine collectible cards with a strategy game. You build your collection of cards by buying products such as Booster Packs or Intro Packs as well as by trading your cards with friends. What is Friday Night Magic? Friday Night Magic is a weekly social gathering of Magic fans, hosted at your local friendly game store. Meet other players, play some games, check out new cards, test your latest deck designs, and most importantly, have fun! All players are welcome at Friday Night Magic. It doesn't matter if you're just starting out, have played a lot of Magic Duels, or even if you've been playing at home or at school with friends for years, you'll find a new home-away-from-home at FNM. Many Friday Night Magic events feature an organized tournament for players who are ready for a little friendly competition, but if that's not your thing, don't worry! There's still plenty of fun to be had just hanging out and playing casual pick-up games with players who love Magic as much as you do. Before heading to your first Friday Night Magic event, don't forget to create your Wizards account (it takes less than a minute)! When you create a Wizards account you receive a player ID number, called a DCI number, which you'll need in order to play in any kind of official Magic tournament. What is Booster Draft? Booster Draft is a fun way to play Magic where a group (usually six to eight players) opens packs, selecting the most exciting cards to immediately build decks with. Each player only needs three boosters to get started. How does it work? At the start of the draft, each player opens a pack and picks a single card. Then everyone passes the rest of their pack to the player on their left. Each player then picks a card from the pack they just received before passing again. This process continues until all the cards in those packs have been selected. Then each player opens a second pack, this time passing the pack to their right. After all those cards are drafted, a third pack is opened and passed to the left again. Once all the packs have been drafted, each player builds their deck from the cards they have selected. You may add as many basic lands (Plains, Islands, Swamps, Mountains, and Forests) to your deck as you'd like. Each deck must have at least 40 cards.
