IN PERSON: The Lived Philosophy of Lao Tzu (Part 2)

Details

This is our IN PERSON event for Saturdays. We usually meet every 2 weeks. Also, there is no Zoom link available.

TOPIC – This Saturday, we continue our discussion of the author Lao Tzu, who is the Chinese philosopher credited as the founder of Taoism. The book Tao Te Ching has 81 short chapters. We will continue where we left off last time. You don't need to read in advance; all quotes will be provided in an outline format. We will also compare to Stoicism, Buddhism, Minimalism, and American Transcendentalism. Please join us for a lively conversation!

FREE BOOK - http://classics.mit.edu/Lao/taote.2.ii.html

READING - Dan will bring printed copies of the outline to the meeting (plus you can review it online: go to StoicDan.com and click the link for "Saturdays" in the upper right corner of the home page).

VENUE - The venue is Imperial Wine Bar at 1800 N Orange Ave, Orlando, FL 32804 (at the corner of North Orange Avenue and E New Hampshire Street). We meet outside in the Beer Garden. So, enter the front door, walk through, look for the sign to the Beer Garden. The venue has food and drink, including wine. Parking is free behind the building and across the street.

COST - This event is free, but please consider buying something from the menu (a glass of wine or beer). See menu below.

TIME - 5:00PM Eastern. We take a break at 1 hour into the meeting.

PARKING - You can park behind the building or across the street. The parking lot across the street has signs to the contrary, but the venue said it's ok to park there.

GUESTS - As some have requested, you can now bring guests without them clicking RSVP separately.

MENU - If you'd like to check the menu before arriving, here is the link to Imperial's menu. https://www.imperialwinebar.com/orlando-menu/

OTHER - If you'd like to plan something after the meeting, the venue has music on Saturday nights, usually at 8PM, plus there are many other venues in the area. Check: https://www.facebook.com/Imperialwinebar/

COURTESY - This group enjoys open-minded, respectful conversations. If we differ in our opinions, then "we agree to disagree". The long-term goal is to improve our minds via group discussions. Our group does NOT discuss religion or politics.

This event is free and open to the public.
