Featured talks:
9:30 a.m. Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processor (codename Skylake-SP) Architecture Overview
The presentation with cover the architectural advancements and changes in Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processor contrasting them against the previous Intel® Xeon® E5 v4 processor generation, specially focusing on areas relevant for networking usage.
Speaker: Akhilesh Kumar, Principal Engineer, Intel Corporation
10:15 a.m. Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processor (codename Skylake-SP) for NFV
This presentation takes a closer look at the Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processor I/O subsystem which has been greatly improved to meet the needs of today’s Networking Infrastructure. In addition we introduce key software building blocks that enable the transition to Network Function Virtualization.
Speaker: Rashmin Patel, Senior Software Engineer, Intel Corporation
11:00 a.m. Bringing 5G to Life – Today
In this session you will hear about the advent of 5G and all of the great use cases that it will bring to life. In addition the session will provide insight into how these 5G applications will be brought to market with the latest infrastructure offerings from Intel such as MultiAccess Edge Computing and the FlexRAN (Radio Access Network). By leveraging the broad ecosystem of developers that will provide unique applications built on open source and standards there are endless opportunities for 5G and our next generation networks that will provide a better quality of life for all.
Virtual Speaker: Naser Adas, GM of IoT and HetNet, Network Infrastructure, Intel Corporation
11:30 a.m. VNF Skylake Optimizations
Have you ever wondered how a network appliance “becomes a VNF”? In this session, we’ll walk through the process to understand, implement, and work with leading network operators and their TEMs/ISVs to move a given network function off big iron and into software running on standard IA servers. Further, we’ll look at exactly what features of the platform are key to achieving breakthrough performance, avoiding typical bottlenecks. The main workload featured in this talk is called a vCMTS (i.e. a cable modem network aggregation point) and highlights work done in the Cable Access market, but the process and lessons can apply to any data plane application -- especially those at the Edge.
Speaker: Eric Heaton, Platform Solutions Architect for Cable Access, Intel Corporation
12:35 p.m. Kuryr-ODL Integration
This session will provide an architecture overview of Kuryr+ODL and hands-on lab. The intent of the demo is to showcase internetworking between VM and Containers using Kuryr and ODL. The user would be able to create Kubernetes PODs and the networking will be provided by ODL and Neutron. The PODs will be able to communicate with VMs using the underlying demo thus showcasing the internetworking of VM and Kubernetes PODs.
Speaker: Prem Sankar, Principal Architect, Ericsson
1:05 p.m. Lunch
1:45 p.m. Open Networking Foundation Keynote
Speaker: Larry Peterson, Chief Technical Officer, Open Networking Foundation
Please register at the conference website ( http://intelvnf.bemyapp.com/ ) to attend the virtual conference.
