------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Come learn about some of the technologies that are instrumental in the platform transformation for NFV and SDN. This time we have built plenty of networking opportunities into the agenda :-)
Agenda:
06:30 Tea/Coffee and a chance to network
7:10 Welcome back to our second meetup
By Haidee McMahon, Meetup Organizer, Intel
7:15 DPDK for as platform for Network Function Virtualization (NFV)
By Declan Doherty, Intel
Abstract:
DPDK (Data Plane Development Kit) is an open source project for the development of packet processing applications and is a key elements in Intel’s NFV enablement strategy.
This talk will provide an introduction to DPDK, including covering some of the technical details which allow us to achieve very high performance packet processing on off the shelf hardware. The talk will also include a demo to show how to build and run a simple DPDK application.
Bio:
Declan Doherty is a senior software engineer in the software data plane team at Intel Shannon. Declan has over 10 years development experience in communication systems software, including working on the development of optical based packet switching technologies and low latency packet processing infrastructure for trading. Declan primarily works on DPDK related activities within Intel, including developing new libraries for packet processing and enabling new silicon functionality. Declan is also currently the maintainer of the crypto device and link bonding libraries on dpdk.org.
8:00 Tea/Coffee and a chance to network
8:30 DPDK in a Box
By David Hunt, Intel
Abstract:
In this presentation, David will present DPDK in a Box, what's in it, what to do with it and how to run an application on top. (more details to follow when David returns from a well earned holiday)
Bio: David Hunt is a Senior Software Engineer working the the DPDK Team based in Intel Shannon. More to follow...
9:00 Evolution of the Programmable Server Dataplane
By Mark Gray, Senior Software Engineer, Intel
Abstract:
In this talk, Mark will discuss how virtual switches, a key component of the server dataplane, are becoming more flexible to address the needs of SDN/NFV. Mark will talk about some of the technologies that are enabling this flexibility and some of the open source projects with which developers can learn more.”
Bio: Mark Gray is a Senior Software Engineer at Intel Corporation based in Shannon in the West of Ireland. Mark works on server dataplane technologies with a focus on virtual switching. Mark was the maintainer of Intel's DPDK-Accelerated fork of the Open vSwitch project commonly called OVDK and is currently leading a team working on a number of server dataplane technologies.
