Outdoor Afro is a social community that reconnects African-Americans with natural spaces and one another through recreational activities such as camping, hiking, biking, birding, fishing, gardening, skiing — and more! Outdoor Afro disrupts the false perception that black people do not have a relationship with nature. We remember our history in nature, leverage social media, and support relevant local leadership to create interest communities, events, and partnerships that support diverse participation in the Great Outdoors.
Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve State Natural Reserve
Join Outdoor Afro Los Angeles as we enjoy nature's beautiful California poppy display!
According to Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve the park is "eight miles of trails through the gentle rolling hills, including a paved section for wheelchair access, make the park a wonderful place to hike and explore any season. Get away from the city and relax in the quietude of the countryside, with the birds singing and hawks gliding silently overhead."
We will have the option of taking a trail or sitting on the benches and enjoying the views. This should be a wonderful time to be had by all!
