Bike ride on the Eastern Trail (Scarborough)
Let's go ride bikes! Through a partnership with Portland Gear Hub (thanks to Bridgette Kelly), we will have up to 10 FREE bikes available for folks who want to join us on a bike ride along the Eastern Trail. The Eastern Trail is a flat, multi-use trail that starts in Scarborough - the Scarborough Marsh area - and connects to the East Coast Greenway. The full Eastern Trail runs approximately 62-miles. We will be biking approximately 15 miles of the trail. We'll most likely stop along the way to have some snacks, so bring a light backpack to carry snacks. We'll be meeting at Portland Gear Hub at 11:30am, boarding a bus (carrying the bikes), and driving to the trailhead. See the link below for the location. If you have your own bike, you can just meet us at the trailhead at 12pm. ****NOTE: the bike trail is not paved, it's tightly packed rocks. This isn't the best terrain for road bikes. The bikes we'll be using from Gear Hub are mountain bikes. If you were considering bringing your own bike & it's a road bike, you may just want to use a Portland Gear Hub bike instead.*** Please review the Outdoor Afro waiver prior to the trip:

    What we're about

Outdoor Afro is a community that reconnects African-Americans with natural spaces and one another through recreational activities such as camping, hiking, biking, birding, fishing, gardening, skiing — and more!

We use social media to create interest communities, events, and to help shift the visual representation of who gets outdoors. Here is where you can start locally connecting with people who share your outdoor interests and aspirations!
