What we’re about

Outdoor Afro - St. Louis is a community of outdoor enthusiasts committed to reconnecting Black people with natural spaces and one another through recreational activities such as camping, hiking, biking, birding, fishing, gardening, stargazing, skiing -- and more -- in the St. Louis area and surrounding metropolitan areas. Founded by adventurer and environmental activist, Rue Mapp, in 2009, Outdoor Afro primarily uses social media to share the mission of attracting communities of color to the outdoors, advocate for increased resources for outdoor diversity, create interest communities, organize outdoor events, and partner with local, regional and national organizations that support diverse participation in the Great Outdoors. So, join the outdoor movement today by getting involved with your local Outdoor Afro - St. Louis network! We hope to see you outside!
