Black Canyon Canoe Trip May 2-5

From: Camp R.
Sent on: Tuesday, March 12, 2013 5:05 AM

We have a couple of spots left if you would like to attend. But we will be closing the reservations soon.

·         Join us for an amazing 4-day adventure to the Black Canyon! May 2-5, 2013

The Black Canyon, located about 30 minutes outside Las Vegas, is a beautiful volcanic rock canyon where the lazy Colorado runs from Hoover Dam, continuing South towards Mexico. This 11 mile paddle includes access to great hot springs, wildlife viewing, and nice beaches and side canyons for camping and relaxing. There is abundant wildlife including bighorn sheep, coyotes, waterfowl, peregrine falcons, and other birds of prey. This trip includes one night hotel stay and 2- nights camping in the canyon. The lower Colorado river is moving flat-water, not whitewater, and it is perfect for beginners or seasoned paddlers alike.

You will spend three amazing days canoeing/hiking/playing in Black Canyon on our expedition. Hike through narrow slot canyons, paddle the crystal green waters of the Colorado River, and sleep out under the stars. Days will be full of kayaking and hiking, and you will have plenty of time to roam free. Nights will be spent enjoying the hot springs by moonlight, as the campfire crackles in the dark. Our basecamp will be in the middle of the canyon, giving us access to all the side canyons, and hidden secrets that lie within. Spend hours relaxing and soaking in the natural hot tubs. Paddle into rain caves, and take time to study ancient rock art left by the Mohave tribes who inhabited the area.

Fresh sumptuous meals will be enjoyed around the campfire, and evenings are free to relax, read, hike, or explore on your own. Enjoy the sounds of the river as it lulls you to sleep, embers popping from the campfire. It doesn't get much better than this. Leave the driving to us as our luxury first class bus will depart LA area early am on Thursday and make a stop for a short hike in the Mojave National Preserve. We plan on arriving early Thursday evening at our Hotel in Boulder City. Friday morning we will then load our gear and ourselves in our large 2-person canoes and start our venture down the Colorado River. You will not need to bring any cooking gear or food; just the basic camping gear you would ordinarily bring on an overnight camping trip.

Trip Fee: $349 - includes: first class bus transportation, canoe rental, river permits, 1 night hotel (DBl occupancy), 2 nights camping, Friday Lunch and Dinner, all meals Saturday and Sunday breakfast and lunches. Sign up fast; this trip should not be missed and will be a blast! Grab a paddle, let's GO!
