I am re-running this walk from the spring, as central meet-points and less mud are more popular in winter.

We're meeting at 11am for a coffee at The George (Wetherspoon) pub opposite Wanstead Station, We'll be sitting near the door at the Wanstead High St entrance. You can park around most of Wanstead's yellow lines on a Saturday, keep your eye on the lamp-post plaques.

We'll walk down to Wanstead Park/Forest, go right the way around and over to Wanstead Flats. When we reach Hollow Ponds, we'll go all the way round the massive lovely lake (pictured above), come out at Snaresbrook, and walk up Wanstead High St back to the The George.

We'll be stopping at a couple of open cafés for tea breaks mid-walk. You could either eat a packed lunch at one of these stops, or have something to eat when we get back to the pub.

Some of you may want to have a quick look in the shops in one of east London's nicer little high streets. We'll be walking right through it at the end of the walk.

A nominal fee of £2 to help cover Meetup's organiser subscription will apply. No shrapnel please.
