Oxford Internet Professionals (OIP) update

From: Rob J.
Sent on: Monday, January 26, 2009 12:04 PM
Hi everyone,

Thanks to all those who attended the January OIP, the first in 2009, and what a great turn out too! There were 15 of us at the last Meetup, and it's great to see this group continue to grow but please do keep letting your friends and collagues know about OIP and get them interested in joining Meetup too!

Now the next OIP Meetup is planned for February 19th, @ 7.30pm. We usually meet in The Head of the River pub just a little further down from St Aldates, however a few members would like to consider some different venues so I'll be polling you all about this soon... Watch out for that poll as your opinion really does matter!

We've had quite a few new members sign up over the last month or two, so welcome to you, please do make yourself known and please do visit us at the next Meetup.

If you've not already RSVP'd to the February Meetup please don't forget to do so! Visit today :-)

# A little news
For those of you who use Twitter you can follow me @Jones_Rob and find others from the group through my profile at

For those of you new to Twitter let me explain what it's about... Twitter is a social networking and microblogging service that allows you answer the question, "What are you doing?" by sending short text messages 140 characters in length, called "tweets", to your friends, or "followers." It's a great way to stay in touch with the people you know, and to appreciate and learn from others you follow.

Now Twitter users and fans across the world are planning a series of local events (named Twestival) on February 12th and there's going to be one in Oxford held at The Cape of Good Hope pub. For further details please visit and register your interest - it will be great to see you there!

Right... time to get on with a little work, but look out for the venue poll that will be coming your way soon!

And don't forget to hook up for the Oxford Twestival at

Have a good week everyone,
