Another favourite evening walk of mine. I've walked this recently and came face to face with few deer by the church. Social distancing 2 metre and symptoms rules apply. There will be 2 groups of 6 people walking 5 mins apart, please don't mingle with the other group, thanks. We'll start off at the pub going through the fields before reaching Hampton Gay and the famous convent ruins and walk along the canal and finally stopping for a pint at the pub if we are allowed. There are several stiles to navigate, if you have mobility difficulties this may not be suited to you. Dogs welcome. To finish the walk in daylight we will need to walk with minimal pitstops! Thrupp is located just north of kidlington as shown on my photo, the pub is on the main road before you reach Thrupp village. Please park at the far end of the pubs car park. Please pay £3 cash to me before the walk starts,if you exactly £3 that would be appreciated.
Time to escape! A weekend of walking, paddling, swimming in the sea or have a good at surfing? There are a few walks I have planned to do but open to ideas. There are single or twin rooms available at a reasonable price. You can choose to have breakfast which is waiter service, bacon and eggs etc and / or cereal, pastries and fresh fruits etc. Or buy your own? There will be takeaways open of course and local supermarkets to make salads etc ( i'm going to take a picnic set with me) and a bottle of wine. An evening picnic on the beach sounds good to me! Free parking on site and its a 5 mins walk (if that) to have a clear view of fistral beach. Walk the other way to pentire headland and the gannel estuary. If you want to get away here's the link https://www.pentirehotelnewquay.co.uk/ The swimming pool will be closed obviously....sadly...
This walk is in the Bernwood Forest following tracks and routes through fields too. A Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) called Shabbington Woods Complex, it supports a wide variety of wildlife and is one of the most important butterfly sites in the United Kingdom. Roe (big) deer live here but I dont think we'll meet any...lots of nature to get close too. Parking is free and dogs welcome. The walk is £3 cash payment to me before the walk starts, thank you.
Another favourite of mine, this time a hill with a view. Social distancing 2 metre and symptoms rules apply. There will be 2 groups of 6 people walking 5 mins apart, please don't mingle with the other group, thanks. Starting from Dorchester-on-Thames (the Roman town of Doracina) with its fine 200ft-long late-Norman abbey, this short walk takes in the a stretch of the Thames Path as well as a small climb up to the top of Wittenham Clumps and views over the surrounding countryside, its a 73m height.. We meet in the free car park on Bridge End which is a sharp left turn just as you enter the village from the southerly side. There may limited spaces so you may need to continue into the village and park considerately along the High Street. The area is shown better in the Map link https://www.bing.com/maps?osid=98152449-e131-4b7c-878f-cdafa3b77340&cp=51.642538~[masked]&lvl=18&style=h&v=2&sV=2&form=S00027 Dogs welcome on leads where there are animals etc, thank you. Please pay £3 cash to me before the walk starts,if you exactly £3 that would be appreciated.
