What we're about

This is a fun group for anyone who loves taking photos while hiking. Now you can go hiking and not feel a big rush to keep up with your fellow hikers or compromise getting that perfect shot.

We welcome photographers and hikers of all skill levels. Our events vary from rambles down well-trodden trails, to serious off-trail bushwhacking, to indoor events during the winter months. Often we will end up at a restaurant after the primary event. While we certainly love photography, first and foremost, we are a social group!

Please read events fully and ensure you have any prerequisite equipment and ability. Please sign up for any events that interest you, and remove your RSVP if you cannot attend. Flaking is not cool. Events fill up fast. We tend to post new events without announcing them. You are more likely to get in if you browse our upcoming events periodically.

Attendees are expected to be generally self-sufficient, and friendly. We, the leaders, offer a lot of help and guidance, but our events are lot richer and rewarding when everyone steps up to help and share.

We look forward to seeing you on the trail!

Meeting A Moose In Mammoth

King City Clubhouse

Gary Thurman is the presenter for this. "For my 60th Birthday present my wife set up a personal visit with Moose Peterson at his house in Mammoth, CA, and what a gift it was. I learned some valuable lessons from that day spent with Moose, and will be talking about those important topics that made a significant benefited to my photography (“The Minds-Eye” and "Psychology of Color"). Perhaps the most important lesson learned, was how to be far more truthful about critiquing not only our own images, but others as well."

Sunrise at The Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival

Tualatin Park & Ride at Bridgeport Village

*** Note, the date may change if weather is poor *** Here's a great chance to shoot tulips at sunrise and avoid the crowds. We will meet at either 5 or 5:30, depending on your location. Sunrise is approximately 6:34am. I plan to leave the field a little after 7 to head to work. You may stay as long as you want. http://www.woodenshoe.com/events/tulip-fest/ "There is nothing like the colors of our tulip fields in the spring backed by Mt. Hood and surrounded by fresh country air. Every year the varieties are arranged differently in a new pattern of color as we rotate our tulip fields to a new location." COST Drivers, you need to buy a Photographer's Morning pass at their website or at the gate. If you want to go on your own, you also need to buy a pass. Distance from Gateway is about 80 miles roundtrip, so give your driver $8 if traveling from Gateway. Distance to the fields from Tualatin is about 48 miles roundtrip, so give your driver about $5 if traveling from Tualatin. CARPOOL ARRANGEMENTS We will meet at the Gateway Park & Ride at 5:00am and Tualatin Park & Ride at Bridgeport Village at 5:30am. If you want to go on a different day, please contact me as I have a season pass. Standard Disability/Liability Waiver Statement: By RSVP 'yes' to this PDX Photography and Hiking event, you are accepting all liability for yourself. Needs a date and time

Needs a location

Hi all, I noticed that we have challenges communicating over MU. The discussion board is not very user friendly and when a member starts a discussion it does not notify us. Also, based on your feedback, I created this event so I can share the facebook group. I noticed that only a handful of users know about it. So if you are interested to follow the link beow. I would like to mention that if you are a member of the facebook group, your facebook profile remains private. Please check it out and if you decide that is not for you, you can just "unfollow" it afterwards. :) Also, if you have a hiking suggestion it is easier to post it on the facebook group and I can added it to the list. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1422661191368949/ Best, Jenny
