How can you make teamwork seamless and efficient for teams that aren’t physically adjacent to one another? What tools and workflows do designers use to help support their big ideas and maintain positive collaboration experiences?

Join the conversation with four design leaders in the Phoenix area as they share collaboration best practices, processes, things to avoid and insights on design tools that work for their teams. Explore topics like:

Key components in building a smooth design process.

  • Eight Steps to an Intuitive UI

    Keap

Having an intuitive UI is a top goal for every design project, yet surprisingly few people have a strong understanding of what this important concept really means. Designers are no different. (A quick test: ask some designers to define it. Most likely you won’t be impressed by their answers.)

In this talk, you will learn what it means for a UI to be intuitive. You will learn a practical definition, the attributes required to be intuitive, the levels of intuitiveness, and when it makes sense for a UI to not be intuitive. Ultimately, you will learn how to help your team design UIs that are more self-explanatory and require less training and documentation. You will see these concepts applied to a variety of real design problems.

    Speaker: Everett McKay

Bio: Everett McKay is Principal of UX Design Edge and a UX design trainer and consultant with global clientele. Everett's specialty is finding practical, intuitive, simple, highly usable solutions quickly for web, mobile, and desktop applications. Everett has over 30 years' experience in user interface design and has delivered UX design workshops to an international audience that includes Europe, Asia, South America, and Africa.

Everett is author of "Intuitive Design: Eight Steps to an Intuitive UI", the definitive guide to designing intuitive interactions, and "UI Is Communication: How to Design Intuitive, User Centered Interfaces by Focusing on Effective Communication", a groundbreaking approach to UI design using human communication-based principles and techniques. While at Microsoft, Everett wrote the Windows UX Guidelines for Windows 7 and Windows Vista. Everett holds a master's degree in computer science from MIT.
