Visual Storytelling with Personal Stories with Minny Lee
Four weeks, November 20 – December 11, Tuesday evenings, 6-9pm This course is designed to help photographers initiate a photography project from a very personal place, whether it is derived from dreams, memories, day-to-day encounters, or family stories. Through slide presentations, an examination of world-renowned photobooks, reading materials, and constructive critiques, the class progresses towards developing a personal project into a tangible and substantive format. For the end of the course, participants create a body of work with a written statement and should be comfortable with editing, sequencing and evaluating their own photographs and those taken by others. Course participants are asked to attend the first class with about six to twelve photos of their topic of choice or examples of past work as jpeg images in a thumb drive or as small size prints (4×6 or 8×10 inches). Prerequisite: A basic knowledge of photography. Open to all levels and all camera types. For more information and to register, go to https://pnmlab.com/event/visual-storytelling-with-personal-stories/ Minny Lee is a multimedia artist who employs photography, audio, video and site-specific installation work. Lee’s work contemplates the concepts around time and space and the coexistence of duality. Her recent book, Million Years, was published by Datz Press, and will debut at NY Art Book Fair in 2018.
