The Walden Family, owners of Walden Farms and Pumpkin Patch in Smyrna, TN (you can google it for more info about the property) have graciously consented to let the Provident Living Society host this event on their property. This event will be a great chance to get out and meet others in the society while learning some new skills and practicing your barter skills.
Classes will include "How to Prepare Wild Game" (for more info about this class see below), Bartering, Natural Healing With Plant-Based Medicine, Spring Cleaning With Essential Oils, Solar Oven Cooking, Vacuum Canning, and making sauerkraut (pickling).
We will have a section reserved for bartering from 12 -2PM. This is not a flea market or a sales area--it is strictly for bartering in the spirit of fun and learning what it might be like in a cashless society. No cash, checks, or credit cards will be allowed or accepted; only trading goods-for-goods. Some examples of things to trade might be medical supplies, survival gear, canning supplies, camping equipment etc.
This is a bring your own lunch affair. If you have the time and energy bring some dessert to share!
This event is limited to the the first 100 people to RSVP.
This should be a lot of fun! See you then,
Preparing Wild Game IS NOT for the squeamish...
Participants will actually kill, dress, and prepare a rabbit. Academics will cover diseases, how to tell if your rabbit was/is healthy, and considerations with other animals. Bring a cooler and plastic bag if you wish to save your meat. We will also discuss tanning the fur for those that are interested (Course fee $20--bring it to the class, check or cash is fine)
