The time has come for you, the members of PuPPy, to select Seattle’s startup representative to travel to Montreal in April to represent our Python community and startup scene at PyCon, the annual conference by the Python Software Foundation (https://us.pycon.org/2015/). Our founder, Don Sheu, first launched PyCon’s Startup Row in Los Angeles at Techweek LA. There, Discotech won a spot and are now exhibiting this year in the Expo Hall.
On Feb. 11th, five Seattle companies will be pitching for the 2015 StartUp Row spot, and you will select the winner via Twitter(@ps_python). They are all companies with fewer than 15 staff members, have been in operation for less than two years, and of course, use Python. (See the comments below for the list of startups.) As a side note, if anyone has airline connections, we are in search of a sponsor to support our PyCon companies with transportation.
Want to go to PyCon yourself? We’ve got a pass to give away. We’ll start the meeting off with Lightning Talks, and the speaker with the most votes will win a pass to Montreal. Interested in sharing your experiences or knowledge about Python with our membership? Want to go to PyCon? Email your topic to Don at [masked].
Most importantly, we are honored to partner with SimplyBuilt to bring you this amazing meeting. SimplyBuilt (simplybuilt.com) is a pillar in the startup and open-source development community. Have a Git project of your own? Want to give it a voice? Check this out: http://tinyurl.com/q9e2fyj. More info is to come about this group!
