• What we'll do
Meeting at Starbucks HQ for 1st time ever. Thank you Carly Slater, Nicholas Hunt-Walker, and Cris Ewing for pushing this forward.
PuPPy, one of the world's largest Python communities, will feature Python in use at Startups. Our October meeting is a collaboration with Startup Week. We'll feature talks by engineers at Seattle startups. Our speakers will demonstrate how Python drives growth at some of Seattle's fastest growing startups.
Alex Landau of Rover will share his talk, "Building a Culture of Observability at Rover"
TALK DESCRIPTION: Observability is all about achieving a deep understanding of your software. At Rover we strive to build observability into our culture, not only to improve our site reliability and performance but also to empower our developers. In this talk you'll learn about why we've focused on observability, the tools we've built, and the best practices we've learned to ingrain observability into our engineering culture.
SPEAKER: Alex Landau is passionate about creating scalable, robust software. He currently works at Rover.com where he drives platform performance, observability, and scaling efforts. He developed web services for Amazon’s Marketplace platform which is used by millions of third-party sellers on Amazon. Alex also performed load testing of Amazon’s search services in preparation for Prime Day in 2016. Before Amazon, Alex worked at Microsoft on the Application Insights team building an automated UI testing framework. Prior to his career in industry, Alex was an undergraduate researcher at the University of Virginia where he worked with Wes Weimer’s research group on genetic algorithms to automatically find and fix bugs in code.
