Morning Paddle in Stuart/Hobe Sound at the end of SE Cove Road

Details

This is my favorite location to paddle so far in Martin and Palm Beach Counties. We paddle through lots and lots of mangrove and end up at the ocean. Whether we jump in the ocean for a swim or just walk on the beach with no buildings and very, very few people; it's great to enjoy a quiet stretch of beach with no distractions except for the sand and the surf!!!

This park is called Cove Road Park but it doesn't even list the address in the Martin County Parks & Recreation website (it lists the name but no address....really). I don't think GPS will work unless you use GPS coordinates which are 27.148886, -80.168654.

From I-95 North in Martin County, take exit 101, FL-76/Kanner Hwy. Turn right at the bottom of the ramp. Continue a short distance and turn right at the 2nd stoplight onto Cove Rd. Continue all the way (a little less than 6 miles) to the end of the Cove Road which dead ends at the Intracoastal. There is parking there and a little park called Cove Road Park where we will launch. The picture below is from a favorite paddling excursion out of Cove Road Park.

If you need a rental, let me know when you RSVP. Our sponsor, Paddleboard Connection, provides boards for meetup members and their guests for $30 per person. I just need to know how many boards to bring. If you are a new to stand up paddle boarding; you'll need a lesson. I would recommend that you try our Fabulous First Timer meet ups first. If you can only attend this event, the lesson and rental will be $40 and you will need to let me know that you need a lesson. If you are apprehensive at all, please try the Fabulous First Timers instead for your first paddle.

If you are a new paddler, please don't show up at 9:15 am and expect to jump on the board and paddle (without a lesson) with experienced paddlers. This is one of our longer paddles so you need to know how to paddle. It's not fair to you or the other paddlers, if one person doesn't know how to paddle & slows down the whole group.

Wondering what to do if the weather is questionable? I check multiple detailed weather and radar forecasts. I don't cancel until the day of the event because quite often the forecast will change overnight. I also look carefully at wind speed & direction vs our location. I will cancel this event about 3 hours prior to the start time listed above if I know the wind will not cooperate based on the location or if there's lightning or radar has a thunderstorm heading that way. The whole idea is to have fun so I'm not going out there unless I think we'll all have a nice morning on the water. See you at end of Cove Road!
