SUP Newbies Unite!!! Ready to try stand up paddle boarding but haven't had the opportunity yet? We'll supply the equipment. You just need to show up with your sense of adventure, have some fun and get a nice workout at the same time! You'll get a detailed lesson given by a certified instructor. After everyone gets comfortable on the paddleboards, you'll explore the area around Juno Park with an eco-tour guide who is also a certified Florida Master Naturalist.

Who should come? Any one who wants to learn how the basic skills needed for stand up paddle board in a safe, flat water environment.

What will be provided? You MUST RSVP for this event so we know how many boards to bring. THE COST OF RENTAL, LESSON & TOUR IS $35 (CASH OR CREDIT CARD) ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT. If you have paddled before and still need to rent a board it's $25 cash or credit card on the day of the paddle. If you have your own equipment and just want to paddle with us, please join us. Donations towards meetup costs are always appreciated.

What should you bring? Other than your sense of fun and adventure, you need to wear clothes that you can get wet in. Most folks don't fall into the water but this is a watersport so it's OK to get wet. It's advisable to bring sun screen, bug spray, inexpensive sunglasses, a hat that you can get wet and will stay on your head easily, water to drink and maybe a snack if you think you might need it. Bring watershoes or flipflops to wear before we get on the boards.

When: Arrive at the start time listed above so we can get your equipment fitted and be ready to start the lesson closer to 9am.

Where: Carefully read 'How to find us' above. If you have a question about getting to this location, please ask me. Parking is free but there are no usable restroom facilities at this location. Check GPS the night before so you know how long it takes to get to the park.

Wondering what to do if the weather is questionable? I check multiple detailed weather and radar forecasts. I will cancel the event about 2 hours before start if I know the wind will not cooperate OR if there is a strong chance of lightning based on thunderstorms heading our way by event time. If I don't cancel the meetup event; then the event will take place.

Please change your RSVP if you can't make it. It's the courteous thing to do. If you have your own equipment & want to join us, just RSVP so I know how many paddlers to expect.
