What we're about

Paint Music Astoria is consisted of a group of artists and music lovers, who express their interpretation of various music through painting and drawing. The Meetup sessions are designed for members who are seeking creative outlets outside of professional life, by offering a unique opportunity to experience art and music together in a relaxing and supportive environment.

The group meets 6 times per season, mostly on Saturdays. Our regular meeting location is at the Steinway Reformed Church, where there is a beautiful garden and large indoor space for us to meet rain or shine. Sometimes I would take the group outside of Astoria to join other festivities at NYC, such as the Cherry Blossom festival at the Central Park and the Brooklyn Botanical Garden. For each Meetup session I would curate music from various genres to set as the subject and tune of the session. Together the group paint and draw their imagination inspired by each specific piece of music, and discuss how they have interpreted them differently. Through these exercises, members experience an increased sensitivity to sound, widened imagination, heightened awareness and the ability to articulate inner thoughts. Past members have also found these sessions to be therapeutic.

No previous art knowledge or skills is required. Anyone who is interested in music and art is welcomed to join! Let’s paint & discuss about music in the lovely garden of the Steinway Church!

Paint Music is open to music suggestions from the members, is there a piece or type of music on your mind? Tell me about it~

A few words about Membership Dues:

It's $20 per year, effective starting Oct. 31st, 2017.

Members who have joined my meet up earlier may have seen me changing the membership due a few times over the past year. Please forgive me for my changing mind, I was learning from my experience as new organizer. Now that I have some experience under my belt, I have finally decided on the $20/year flat membership fee. This fee enables me to provide more resources, enriched experience, and entertainment to the members. Obviously it won't make sense for you to pay the membership fee until you have experienced what we do here at Paint Music Astoria, and hence the 180 days trial period. Hopefully in 180 days you'll find a chance to join one of our sessions and meet everyone :)
