Introduction To Julia Programming For Data Science

Details

Julia is a high-level, high-performance, easy-to learn dynamic programming language developed specifically for scientific computing. It is the fastest open-source language for data science, the pure sciences (e.g., physics), engineering, economics, and more. Plus, Julia is just a lot of fun. Look out AI and Machine Learning enthusiasts, here comes Julia!

In this meetup presentation, Lance Hester will discuss why Data Scientists and Data Hackers are looking at Julia as a potential replacement language for R and Python. He will describe and demonstrate key features of the language and will show how Julia can be used to solve data science problems.

Speaker Bio:

Lance is a Data Scientist and Researcher for Akamai Technologies, an American content delivery network and cloud service provider serving between 15% and 30% of all web traffic world wide. Lance holds a BSEE from the University of Maryland College Park and MSEE/PhD EE from Northwestern University.
