What we're about

This group is for adults interested in rock climb outdoors at local crags around the eastern panhandle! We will meet up on Thursday evenings, the location will change occasionally, climbs will be setup by 5:00pm and climbing will be open on those 4 or more ropes until dusk. All skill levels are welcome. Gear can be provided for you with some communication beforehand.
Chris is an AMGA certified single pitch climbing guide, a Wilderness First Responder, and owner of Climbing New Heights indoor climbing gym and guide service.
Climbing routes ranging in grades from 5.easy - 5.10+ will be available

Climbing in Harpers Ferry is great! This is a wonderful way to learn to climb outside. Beginners welcome. Access to climbing in Harpers Ferry is not. There are many options to park for this climb. We highly encourage parking legally in Harpers Ferry at the train station or in lower town. You are encouraged to park at legal spots in Harpers Ferry and hike to the crag. If hiking from lower town Harpers Ferry, you will take the C&O canal towards the map pin. There is a gravel trail at LOCK 32 that takes you across the tracks, climbing area trail is just across Sandy Hook Road. Ropes will be set up and ready to climb on by 5pm, but come whenever you can, We will go until dark. This is a donation event, Suggested donation is $25, $35 if you need gear. The pin location is accurate for the trail up to balcony, its a short hike from the road <5 minutes and the trail is marked with an orange flag pole (3ft tall) I will put a couple little white flags there also. Bring your own gear if you have it, If you need gear, no problem! bring an extra $10 and... by 5pm Wednesday Email: [masked] with shoe and waist size and I will outfit you if you with climbing gear. If you climb until dark a headlamp will be useful. Bring a snack and water for yourself, and clothing/sunscreen as appropriate to the weather conditions forecasted.
