Do you look at your teen now and wonder what happened to that precious, sweet child you used to know and where this moody, exhausted, dramatic, hasn't-showered-in-four-days thing came from?
If you have a teenager, you have had many years of seeing support groups out their for pregnancy, parents of babies, parents of toddlers, parents of young children, every type of group you can imagine. But what about the parents of teenagers?? Isn't this one of the most difficult, challenging stages of raising kids? You're trying to figure out how much freedom to give them, what they're ready for, help them express their autonomy while still giving them boundaries and remember that, even though they may LOOK like adults, they're really not adults yet, learning how to handle backtalk, breaking rules, and other things that have reached a whole new level in the teen years, right?!
It's easy to think that, as parents of teenagers, we should have it all figured out because now we've been parents for so many years, right? But THIS is when sh*t gets SERIOUS. *Now* is when our kids' decisions have MAJOR life consequences. NOW is when PARENTS need the MOST support ever!!
Teens are complicated beings, to say the least. They look so much like regular humans but then they are messy, loud, moody, obnoxious, confusing, dramatic, sensitive (and also insensitive), tired all the time (until they want to go somewhere or do something), demanding, and they can drain all of our energy by just trying to keep up with what mood they're in, who they're dating today versus who they were dating yesterday, or where they need to be and at what time.
Our teens need us NOW *like no one has ever needed us*! They need us to be strong parents for them, loving them, accepting them, guiding them, and teaching them as they grow into adults. It's a lot harder to do this with love when you feel like you wanna wring their neck, right?
This group is to give support to those warrior parents who are raising teens right now. I am a single parent of two teenagers and a certified parenting coach. Before I became a parenting coach, I had my own parenting coach and it changed the trajectory of my family's life forever. I finally got the support I was so desperately needing for years and I want to offer that support and sense of "community" to other parents of teens. We can be here to support and help each other through the most challenging years we will ever see as parents!
Looking forward to meeting up with all of you soon!
Hellooo parents of teens! I am excited to a meetup for those of us who are in the trenches of parenting TEENAGERS!!!
For me, personally, this is the most amazing, incredible stage of parenting that also makes me want to scream and pull my hair out sometimes!! Anyone else with me??
This event is for all of us to support each other, to know that we have someone to lean on, to have a community who UNDERSTANDS what we’re going through. We can listen to each other and learn from each other.
I know everyone has different schedules. I want to include everyone so please feel free to message me privately to let me know what days and times are best for you and I will be sure to hold an event that works for you!
Also, if another town would make this more convenient for you, please feel free to message me with suggestions. I was looking for a place in Brandon but I don’t know the area well (despite living here for a year!) and I want a place that’s not super noisy or busy. I’m always open to suggestions!
I look forward to meeting everyone who can make it! Please feel free to invite your partner, co-parent, or friends! See you soon!
