The Women in Machine Learning & Data Science (WiMLDS) Meetup aims to inspire, educate, regardless of gender, and support women and gender minorities in the field. We are back for our 17th edition!

All genders may attend our meetups.

19:00 – Introduction by Facebook & the Paris WiMLDS team

19:25 – “Image generative modeling for design inspiration and image editing” by Camille Couprie, Research Scientist @Facebook AI

Abstract: Generative models, and in particular adversarial ones, are becoming prevalent in computer vision as they enable enhancing artistic creation, inspire designers, prove usefulness in semi-supervised learning or robotics applications.
We will see how to develop the abilities of Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) to
deviate from training examples to generate more original images of fashion designs. As a limitation of GANs is the production of raw images of low resolution, we also present solutions to produce vectorized results, and show how the developed method may be useful for image editing.

19:45 – “How to marry tech & classical music: prediction of a conductor’s hand gestures with recurrent neural networks" by Victoire Louis, Data Scientist @Edelia (EDF Group)

Abstract : In this talk, I will present how from studying marketing I ended up doing a research on recurrent neural networks. I will introduce my project, the role of a music conductor and my dataset. I will present how I discovered coding in R and Python and why coding was just a way to achieve my goal. Finally, I will talk about how I answered my research question and the different models I tried.

20:10 – “Remaining true to yourself in a world that is not like us” by Gaëlle Gomis & Pamela Meuleye from Leader en Elle

Abstract: Support your reflection on two main axes based on our personal experiences and market data: Choose a job where you are not expected (maybe where you disturb) because of your difference and How to adapt without losing our authenticity
