What we're about
What is Pasadena Area Vegan Family Network?
We are a community of families who get together to provide our kids with a safe, relaxing and fun environment where they can be themselves, and where they know the food will be vegan. Our kids deserve a place where they can feel nurtured and validated by other children who share vegan values. For the adults in PAVFN, the network creates a great opportunity to make new friends and gain support as vegan parents living in a world where we are often a misunderstood minority. So please join us! Our commitment is to have a potluck each month we can look forward to; potlucks will be held at member's homes or local parks, the first Saturday of each month. Additional meet-ups (farm sanctuary visits, holiday events, etc.) will be member-inspired. Out of respect for the environment (carbon emission from driving long distances), PAVFN will serve families in Pasadena and cities with borders to Pasadena, excluding Los Angeles (because the range on LA is just too wide). The cities included are as follows: Pasadena, Alhambra, Altadena, South Pasadena, La Canada, La Crescenta, San Marino, Highland Park, San Gabriel, and Sierra Madre. Thanks for understanding.
Who is eligible:
Adults with children age 0-18 are eligible to join. Our group recognizes and affirms families of all different sizes and structures. Most PAVFN members identify as vegan. But we don't limit the group to vegans only, because a number of us have families with one adult who has gone vegan and another who hasn't. The guidelines for PAVFN's gatherings are: the food is always vegan, and everyone is treated with kindness. This is our safe haven.
How to join:
For the safety of our members, we need to know who you are. Joining the group involves completing your profile, uploading a photo (or photos) of the members of your family, and sending your full name, email, and phone number to Organizer Linnaea Scott. (Click on her name under the Organizer heading at left to send an email.) Note: this is a "PRIVATE" Meet-up group, which means the members' photos, names, and meet-up locations will not be available for members outside this group.
Membership is free.
That being said, the original organizers (the Scott family) are paying a monthly Meet-up fee, so if you'd like to defer some of this cost, we'd appreciate it! Meet-up locations will be disclosed only to members so we can protect the privacy of all our children. Thank you for understanding! Let's support one another on this amazing adventure!
