Join us as we take a deep dive into the historic Chicago residential market and explore what it takes to transform an 1890s balloon framed residence into a fully compliant PHIUS+ 2018 certified home. This presentation will provide an in-depth introduction into successful passive house retrofit solutions, as well as lessons learned, coming first hand from the project’s PHIUS Certified Passive House Consultant, Design Architect, and Design MEP Engineer. The following four topics will be explored in detail: (1) existing building constraints, (2) unique building code requirements, (3) VRF heating & cooling, and (4) future repeatability.
