The startup business used as a case study for this session will be an e-commerce business. We will explain what the business does and the key legal issues and Michael Buckworth from Buckworth Solicitors will then provide guidance on legal issues relevant to the business. Michael will provide advice and will answer questions from the floor.

Key issues that will be explored will be:

(i) Sale of Goods Act compliance - refunds, returns, cancellation, delivery

(ii) Acting as broker/agent - legal and VAT implications

(iii) Liability for non-performance by third party sellers

(iv) gift vouchers, escrow and holding deposits

(v) Data Protection Act compliance

Beer and pizzas will be provided by Buckworth Solicitors from 6.30pm with the session beginning around 7pm.
