Backup Strategies are for Losers...of Data! presented by Ed Watson

Join us for our regularly scheduled meeting on July 28th, as we have MS MVP Ed Watson coming to town from Alpharetta, GA, presenting his very popular "Backup Strategies are for Losers...of Data!".

Defining and documenting a backup strategy in today's data platform is simply not enough to prevent a major catastrophe. For that, a company needs to define a recovery strategy that encompasses their backup solution with an appropriate, tested recovery plan. This session outlines the various backup strategies and how to implement them in a recovery scenario to minimize data loss. This session will discuss various case studies of backup strategy implementations that neglected a strong recovery strategy and resulted in catastrophe for the company.

Ed is a Microsoft MVP and like most children, Ed was born at an early age. After a year of Mechanical Engineering at UF, he changed his career path to Computer Science. Ed has worked in the Information Technology field for 20 years. He started as a programmer with Delphi, Progress 4GL for UNIX & Windows and VB. Although he enjoys the creative side of programming, he prefers the structured side of being a DBA and has worked with SQL Server for eight years. He currently lives in Atlanta & is active with the Atlanta MDF.

We'll have Devart sponsoring this next meeting, which Rodney will be starting the evening off with a demonstration of one of their product lines, dbForge Studio

We hope to see you there! Be sure to RSVP and as always, let your friends and colleagues know!
