About us
We’re about everything that keeps citizens free and accountable for their own acts in a growingly digital world.
Decentralized trust and secure self-sovereign identifiers are vital building blocks for a society where digital security, control over your personal data, confidentiality and privacy is more and more threatened by AI, big tech - and big data corporations and overly centralizing state actors; the latter parties supported by the mainstream media and eduction systems they control. The dystopian outcome we’re here to prevent is a surveillance state where you’re guilty unless you prove innocent, vulnerable to impersonation, phishing and spoofing and where you need permission from a faceless system for everything you do, where you go and what you buy and proclaim.
Although labelled as ‘conspiracy theorist’ and ‘anarchists’ by some, we’re just discussing alternatives that have the eminent potential to prevent things from happening that we already experience in jurisdictions like China and India: surveillance.
Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust (LF-DT), Trust over IP (ToIP) and the KERISuite will be regular topics of our in-person meetings planned in 2026.
We started in A-lab late 2017 with meet-ups around crypto projects like Bitcoin and moved to Meetup Berlage for daytime co-working and meet-ups.
From 2023-2025 we used to meet every Wednesday in NFT Playground from 10:00-18:00. Thanks to the volunteers that ran it.
We also thank Meet Berlage for the 5-years corporation (2019-2023)!
These meetups are for realistic fans of decentralized self-sovereign identifiers, and public blockchain technology. Whether you are just exploring, testing or applying decentralized trust: here you will meet people and hear stories that build bridges and support your ideas; either personal or business convictions and initiatives.
Our meetings are organized by the Permissionless Society community in collaboration with LF-DT
The meetups are about knowledge sharing, interactivity by workshops and discussion. Why would you want to join a meetup like this?
We look positively into solutions. We don’t blame people. We only have a critical stand towards organisations they might be part of.
Decentralization is must for scalability of identifiers and digital credentials (like QR codes to represent you or your mandates, privileges, features, etc)
Permissionless Society is setup by Blockchain Workspace and evolved to a decentralized team (the community) running what we call the BlockDAM DAO. The latest step in our evolution is the corporation with Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust (LF-DT), Trust over IP (ToIP) and the KERI Foundation.

Meetup Digital Freedom - SEDI & KERI Protocol and eIDAS-based EUDI Wallet
Location to be announced, To be announced, Amsterdam, NLMeetup – Comparing SEDI and the KERI Protocol with the eIDAS-based EUDI Wallet Model
(KERISuite: Free Open-source Identifier Systems Software under TrustoverIP Foundation that is anchored in LFDT)Monday June 29, 7:00 PM
Amsterdam area (exact location to be announced)
A meetup about SEDI and its supporting KERI protocol, and how this compares to the EUDI Wallet (eIDAS-based) that will be introduced across Europe.### In short
- SEDI = Model legislated in the State of Utah (US): State-Endorsed Digital Identity. The state endorses a digital identity, while the citizen remains in control.
- KERISuite = technical foundation for secure, self-controlled, persistent, cryptographically verifiable digital identity.
- eIDAS = European legal framework for electronic identification and trust services.
- EUDI Wallet = the European Digital Identity Wallet under eIDAS 2.0, enabling citizens and organizations to store and share digital credentials.
### Relation between these concepts
SEDI and eIDAS/EUDI represent two policy approaches to digital identity: Some US states versus EU.
KERI/KERISuite can be seen as a possible technical infrastructure for implementing such models in a privacy-preserving, decentralized, and verifiable manner.
SEDI places more emphasis on individual sovereignty and state endorsement, while eIDAS/EUDI focuses more on EU-wide interoperability and legal recognition. There are also concerns about the level of trust European citizens are expected to place in these systems.
The meetup is organized by the Permissionless Society Meetup Group and supported by the Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust (LFDT).
### Speakers
- Introduction to SEDI and the KERI protocol — Henk van Cann
- Presentation on the characteristics of eIDAS/EUDI from that perspective - {Speaker wanted}
We are still looking for the second speaker.
Free entrance.
Doors open at 6:45 PM.The meetup starts exactly at 7:00 PM. At 8:30 PM we'll have a drink and a chat.

Kort:
SEDI = State-Endorsed Digital Identity, wettelijk vastgelegd in de staat Utah (US).
Toegang is gratis. Deur open om 18:45 uur. Het begint precies om 19:00 uur.
Om 20:30 uur uiterlijk napraten met een borrel.Bio Henk van Cann
