How can I be 100% sure that I am the only one controlling a private key, at all times? You can't.
How can I prove that I have lost control over crypto value and that I therefore should not be liable for taxation on the lost funds? You can't.
On the other hand, many current laws and regulations seems to apply.
19:30 RIEKE SMAKMAN - SMART CONTRACTS Rieke Smakman has 20+ years of experience as a business lawyer and litigator in The Netherlands. She came across bitcoin in 2015 and over time understood its transformational potential.
She is presently on hiatus from practicing law and is focused on seizing opportunities that blockchain technology holds for lawyers to create and deliver value in a more automated, efficient and transparent way, notably through the use of so-called "smart contracts.” Rieke will take us on a tour of some of the projects that have caught her attention and discuss where lawyers can help foster further blockchain developments.
