Grooming the Backlog - what does this really mean?

  • Sep 10, 2015 · 5:30 PM

The Product Backlog is the key ingredient for scoping, focusing and ensuring the team constantly delivers the highest business value. We'll show-and-tell what makes a good backlog and discuss the range of "grooming" practices (e.g. road-mapping, estimating, splitting, merging, re-prioritising, ordering, grouping, expanding, linking, risk register, etc).

This is the recipe the Product Owner (and others) are expected to follow to maintain a healthy Product Backlog and to evolve it over time.

We'll also touch base on lessons learnt from over (or under) cooking a backlog (don't you love analogies ;-).

Very enjoyable presentation and Q&A, thanks Dwayne. I took away quite a few pointers and it was great to see alternative uses of JIRA.

Great session - loved the kitchen analogies. :) I learned quite a few bits, including: the PO's role in grooming the backlog, delivering slices of multiple epics per release, discard bins, etc. Thanks Dwayne!

Unfortunately I am working out of our Joondalup office this afternoon and so won't be able to make it tonight.
