to all the Book Club Leaders

Hi Ladies,

A local author emailed our book club and is willing to come to any of our meet ups to discuss her book.  It is not chick lit but I thought I would pass on her message in case there is interest.   If so you can contact her directly.

I wanted to share with your group a book about my mother, Ock Soon Lee. She was a servant/slave in South Korea before the war. She survived the Korean War including the First and Second Battles of Seoul. She was in Seoul when the North Koreans invaded the city in June of 1950. She was taken captive by the North Koreans to join their army. Later she survived the Second Battle of Seoul when MacArthur sent the troops to regain the city in September of 1950. She walked 100 miles in snow and ice carrying a seven year old child on her back to escape communism. She was witness to many dying along the route and the sorrow of mothers who left their infants wrapped in blankets in the snow due to starvation and weakness.

Her memoirs are amazing. She survived while hundreds of American and Korean soldiers were killed. At eighty years old , she is now making speaking engagements with book clubs, libraries, veterans organizations and soon will be speaking to high school students about the war.

If your group likes true stores with true heroines, this book is for you.

The book is Love Beyond Measure - Memoirs of a Korean War Bride by Katie Schell. Available on and can be ordered through book stores.
Take a peek on Amazon. Getting great reviews.

Please let your group know about the book and our willingness to Meetup with you.

Thank you kindly,
Katie Schell
