December Philly IoT Meetup - IoT Connectivity with InterDigital's Mike Starsinic

Details
For our final Meetup of the year, we are excited to welcome InterDigital's Michael Starsinic. Michael is a Principal Engineer with InterDigital Labs, and his talk will help us to better understand the wide range of radio access technologies available to IoT system architects, including ZigBee, SigFox, Wi-Fi, and Cellular. Michael will also provide an overview of the work the cellular standardization community has done to make cellular a viable radio access technology for low cost / long-battery life - resulting in battery lifetimes of up to 10 years.
In his presentation, Michael will give an overview of exposed cellular network services, what they are and how they can be used to create successful IoT deployments. Michael's talk will introduce the SCEF (Service Capability Exposure Function), a cellular network function that exposes services to IoT Applications via a set of APIs. The SCEF APIs provide application designers with access to a set of services that can be used to simplify IoT Device applications, extend battery life, and avoid network congestion.
