What we're about

Welcome to Philly Knits! Our resource website is PhillyKnits.org (http://www.phillyknits.org/), to learn how to knit, crochet, etc, and about other groups and information. Most of our meetups are well attended, however many attendees do not RSVP, so the attendance level looks artificially low.

Our meetups are located only in the city of Philadelphia, with the exception of special events, such as the New Jersey Sheep and Fiber Festival.

Through our meetup you will receive posting about regularly scheduled meetups, special events, plus you can post your own Fiber Arts gatherings.

We also post requests for volunteers for educational, charity, and artistic projects, and we work with local museums, libraries, educational institutions, and rehabilitation facilities.

We're into spreading the joy of Fiber Arts (knitting, crochet, pompoms, sewing, etc.) across Philadelphia. Plus, we collect donations of yarn, fabric, and supplies for the Philadelphia School District.

At our meetups, all skill levels from beginner to expert are welcome. Philly Knits is also here to help you start a new meetup in your local cafe, library, etc..

Again, thanks for joining Philly Knits and we look forward to meeting up with you!

Crochet and Knitting at Ikea!

UPDATE: Crochet and Knitting at Ikea Meetups are paused until we can find a space that allows for social distancing. Be sure to join so you can be notified when meetups start again.

Bring your needles, hooks and yarn to Ikea South Philadelphia! Usually between 6 and 10 people attend, although most don't rsvp. The Ikea is located in the Columbus Commons stripmall that is just south of Columbus Blvd and Snyder Avenue. There's plenty of free parking, and you can also take the Septa route 25 bus which stops right at the entrance.

We'll be sitting in the upstairs cafeteria area. Our favorite table is in the side area - - it is to the right of the main dining room. It has a long table and some couches, and provides a more secluded setting. Try to secure that table if you’re the first to arrive.

The cafeteria has plenty of entree and dessert options at very reasonable prices in case you'd like to munch while creating your next awesome project.

All crocheters and knitters of all levels are welcome. Looking forward to seeing everyone!
